Abstract
"The Mechanistic Blueprint in Working as One Body, the Report of the Archbishops' Commission on the Organisation of the Church of England The Archbishops' Commission on the Organisation of the Church of England, chaired by the Bishop of Durham, Michael Turnbull, has proposed in its report, Working as One Body, a series of radical proposals to streamline and make more effective the central workings of the Church. Martyn Percy, in a wide-ranging critique, sees the proposals as fatally flawed in a number of ways. Power will be too concentrated, the thinking is unhelpfully 'managerialist', the blueprint for the Church is mechanistic. His greatest concern of all is that these proposals, if implemented, would herald the break-up of the Church of England as the established"
