Ian Bunting provides a New Testament background to the practise, and, in an overview of current trends, divides them into developmental, alternative and revolutionary forms. For him, Anglican church planting should be both loyal to its traditions and trinitarian in character, by which he means that there should be rootedness in local community, social openness, and a resistance to religious fashion"
