Abstract
"Contextualization has both strengths and weaknesses. The strength lies in making ideas relevant to a particular cultural context. The weakness lies in precisely that fact: the more it speaks to a particular culture, the less it speaks to others—Colin Brown1 The history of the Caribbean includes some of the most horrendous types of slavery imaginable. This along with its aftermath of neocolonialism has been well documented,2 and has even resulted in many Majority-World pastors coming to realize how crucial the doctrine of Messianic emancipation actually is. Some have come to this recognition through the study of the progress of western civilization, a civilization that for centuries endorsed the aforementioned slavery in the new world"
