Abstract
This article tries to elucidate the genealogy of Sunan Kudus and his contribution on spreading Islam in Kudus, Central Java. The long history of the spread of Islam in Java has historical roots that until now hadn’t been completed to be understood of its appearance authenticity. This reality is not the fact without reason, however the lack of historical records makes all the historical phenomena that has been going on over the centuries to become a little hazy to be understood and to understand the embryos of the history. It is also could not be disclosed in original at historical realities of the Islamic Da’wa of Sunan Kudus in Kudus. Although it is reviewed architecturally, the historical data of Sunan Kudus can be materialized, but the values from the charge of his teachings could not be presented as an original fact. Observing the lack of historical data that can be materialized in the disclosure of historical facts in the spread of Islam by Sunan Kudus period, then various criticisms of historical data that has been codified by experts are absolutely necessary. It is in fact aimed at providing means sufficient balancing in favor of putting the historical reality of the speculation that could not be accounted for. Starting from the data searching that has already been done, it was revealed that the Islamization process happening in the middle of Kudus community life cannot be released from the humanization of worship implemented by Sunan Kudus. The humanization of worship system becomes a realistic strategy of Sunan Kudus in favor of Islamic teachings spreading at the center of Kudus community life. As a result, a summary of these findings may be released to the creation of humanization of worship strategy carried out by Sunan Kudus in creating religious society tendencies against the Islamic teachings in Kudus.
