AbstractThe purpose of this research was exploring psychological readiness<br />toward the diversification of primary food among rural and urban community.<br />The subjects were the residences at Kecamatan Gedang Sari Kabupaten<br />Gunungkidul and the residences at Kecamatan Gedongtengen Kota<br />Yogyakarta. Data were obtained through questionnaire tools, observation<br />and interview. Analysis was done by qualitative analysis and descriptive<br />statistics. The result of this research indicated that: (1) the rate of knowledge<br />about the diversification of primary food among urban people was higher<br />than rural people; (2) rural and urban people have the same positive attitude<br />to the diversification of primary food; (3) rural people have applied the<br />diversification of primary food, but they still have extrinsic motivation; (4)<br />urban people haven’t been ready yet to apply the diversification of primary<br />food; (5) there was the difference of primary food variance among rural<br />and urban community; cassava was the rural people’s choice and wheat<br />was the urban people’s choice.
