The role of the European Union is permanently evolving, and this determined a change in the principle of sovereignty of the nation-state. This article presents the impact of European policies on the Roma minority in France and Romania, taking into account the status attributed to them in the two countries: foreigners and ethnic minority, respectively. The aim of the article is to analyze and assess the European policy with respect to Roma people in two of the areas where segregation is most obvious: education and housing.Date
