Our Diet of Worship

Abstract

"Paper read to the BeYkshire Association Fra.kern!.!l at Reading. WHILE this paper aims at the ptactical, there are certain fundamental ideas which must first be considered. The nature of the Worshipper determines the nature of Worship. Whether it be Christian worship will be decided, not by the outward expression, but by the inward experience of the worshipper. To affirm that "worship is a way by which we come to God," leaves open a prior question. A report published by the Congregational Union upon the subject of worship, making this assertion, leaves it vaguely open who is meant by "we." Neither is this a small point, for a man who approaches God as a Christian worshipper must already "believe that He is, and that He proves Himself a repayer of those who earnestly seek Him."
