Abstract
"One hears now and again the opinion expressed that in our Free Church worship we have too much preaching, that on the whole, a fals.e and disproportionate emphasis is placed upon the sermon. If by preaching we mean a certain form of utterance, measured by quantity and time, there may be some truth in the charge. And if by a lessened emphasis on the sermon we could evolve a more reverent, impressive, and exalted form of worship, it might be all to the good:"
