Abstract
In this paper, following contributions from Van Dijk (1994), Fairclough and Wodak (1997) and Pardo (2012), we have a critical discourse analysis of the Papal Encyclical’s third chapter referred to science, technology, power, globalization of the technocratic paradigm and the consequences of anthropocentrism. The ambiguity in a critical evaluation of science and technology, not considering them as constituent parts of the ecological crisis and also keeping a sense of nature to be dominated and transformed, could potentially be used by different actors and social groups to claim their respective ideologies and political agendas"]
