Abstract
In this article we will analyze the stance Lorenzo Hervás y Panduro (1735-1809), an exiled Spaniard Jesuit priest, had about Jansenism. We will focus our study in one of its most famous works: Causas de la revolución de Francia (1794). In this book we will see how Hervás y Panduro constructs an heretic and jansenist “Other” that is blamed for all the political and religious problems of that period: from the suppression of the Society of Jesus to the French Revolution.

Throughout the late Middle Ages the dominion of Cazorla and the village of Quesada were fortified towns in the frontier with the nazari kingdom of Granada, a fact that favoured the establishment of knights coming from other areas of Peninsula. They came attracted by the benefits of the war against the Islam which allowed them to consolidate their social and economic positions in the archbishops of Toledo's domain.
