Abstract
At the ceremony-cum-luncheon on Lingnan campus, Mr Dominic Ng, Chairman and CEO of East West Bank, delivered a speech on “US-China Relations: At the Crossroads of Cooperation and Competition”. He pointed out that the United States, an established superpower, and China, an emerging global power, are standing at the crossroads of cooperation and competition. Amid the global market uncertainty, security risks and domestic pressures, both countries are well aware of the high stakes and hard choices involved in finding a common ground. “Pragmatic partnership between Washington and Beijing requires bilateral trust-building based on common ground and mutual benefits. Constructive cooperation is essential in managing complex bilateral and global challenges in the months and years ahead,” said Mr Ng. “Hong Kong is well-positioned to play a productive role in strengthening communication and trust between the US and China for greater economic good.”Date
