Abstract
International audience
This paper presents the very recent discovery of a series of pottery workshops from the 13th century outside the medieval ramparts of Marseille. In a regular subdivision, the installations are arranged systematically following the manufacturing process. These "imported" workshops produce, among others, limestone ceramics covered with stanniferous glaze and decorations in green and brown, produced for the first time in the south of France. This important innovation is the result of a transfer of technology from the Islamic world.
