The urge to write, particularly among modern academics, seems irresistible. Little wonder. Peers expect conference papers and journal articles and books. Haunted by deadlines, scholar-authors yearn for readership. Nor is this mere vanity. Indeed, professional advancement depends on it. Hence the need for printing outlets.
