Abstract
On December 7th 1492, during a visit to Barcelona, King Ferdinand was severely injured by a local peasant. His life was not endangered and his wounds healed soon, which were undeniable evidences of God’s intervention. In many senses, providentialism gives a convincing answer to the development of the facts, its sequence and happy ending. Furthermore, it reinforces the Royal image by means of both Messianic and Scatological elements. This research concentrates on the writings related to this assault and includes the edition of an important letter.
