Abstract

This article analyzes Max Scheler's discussion of Christian democracy,he proposes this conception as a Catholic social teaching when reflecting the reunion of the war-ruined Europe after the WWI．This Christian democracy is different from political democracy,as it emphasizes the value of ecumenical equality from the special perspective of Christian Revelation．It is this recognition of equality that helps to cultivate the religious personality and social ethos, from which Christianity could lay its foundation to the construction of an admirable social order．Scheler's Christian democracy helps to overcome the short－comings of political democracy when it is overwhelmingly occupied in electoral culture and lays the foundation of Christian value to it．This process is also a self-reflection of the meaning and status in modern society for the modern Christian church．
