COMUNIDADE MORAL E POLÍTICA NA ÉTICA DAS VIRTUDES DE ALASDAIR MacINTYRE

Abstract

This paper concerns the concepts of moral and political community from the point of view of Alasdair MacIntyre’s virtue ethics by evaluating its philosophical validity as a viable alternative to the moral challenges of our age. It is a preliminary attempt to evaluate how his proposal of an ethics which is strongly embodied in a particular moral community – and also its consequent politics of virtues – can deal with the problems brought by cultural diversity and also by the claims of minorities which has emerged in our time. Resumo O texto tematiza a comunidade moral e política a partir do horizonte teórico da ética das virtudes de Alasdair MacIntyre, buscando refletir sobre sua viabilidade filosófica como alternativa para os males de nossa época, ou seja, avaliar preliminarmente em que medida sua proposta de uma ética fortemente vinculada a uma comunidade moral particular – e sua política das virtudes correspondente – consegueenfrentar os problemas oriundos dessa multiplicidade cultural e, por conseguinte, das minorias, quese apresentam em nosso tempo.
