dc.description.abstractSeven years into the twenty-first century and the pace of change has not slackened. It has been overshadowed by the dramatic violence of the assault on the Twin Towers in Manhatten on 9/11, dominated by the daily news of military action and violent death in the Middle East, and after a half century of conflict on the African continent, it is still projected by the UN that over twenty countries will be characterised by conflict until 2020.
