The vision of Child Theology Africa is to advance a child-friendly continent by doing theology with, for, about and through African children. In this article we would like to explore the voice, role and position of the child in church and society, as important and integral to authentic intergenerational church praxis. This is based on the presuppositions that children should be regarded as collaborators in doing theology; children should be engaged not merely as objects but as subjects of research and knowledge generation; children articulate their own experiences with God; and the biblical imperatives to listen carefully to and engage with children.Date

Bulgaria Early Childhood Development : SABER Country Report 2013World Bank (Washington, DC, 2014-09-15)This report presents an analysis of the early childhood development (ECD) programs and policies that affect young children in Bulgaria and recommendations to move forward. This report is part of a series of reports prepared by the World Bank using the systems approach for better education results (SABER)-ECD framework and includes analysis of early learning, health, nutrition, and social and child protection policies and interventions in Bulgaria, along with regional and international comparisons. The Government of Bulgaria (GoB) recognizes the critical importance of ECD through the range of national laws and regulations in place to promote the provision of adequate early childhood interventions. The present SABER ECD analysis is intended to identify achievements, as well as gaps, in Bulgarian ECD policies and programs in hopes of informing the improvement of the existing ECD system.

Africa's Future, Africa's Challenge : Early Childhood Care and Development in Sub-Saharan AfricaPence, Alan; Garcia, Marito; Evans, Judith L. (Washington, DC : World Bank, 2012-05-24)This book seeks to achieve a balance, describing challenges that are being faced as well as developments that are underway. It seeks a balance in terms of the voices heard, including not just voices of the North commenting on the South, but voices from the South, and in concert with the North. It seeks to provide the voices of specialists and generalists, of those from international and local organizations, from academia and the field. It seeks a diversity of views and values. Such diversity and complexity are the reality of Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA) today. The major focus of this book is on SSA from the Sahel south. Approximately 130 million children between birth and age 6 live in SSA. Every year 27 million children are born, and every year 4.7 million children under age 5 die. Rates of birth and of child deaths are consistently higher in SSA than in any other part of the world; the under-5 mortality rate of 163 per 1,000 is twice that of the rest of the developing world and 30 times that of industrialized countries (UNICEF 2006). Of the children who are born, 65 percent will experience poverty, 14 million will be orphans affected by HIV/AIDS directly and within their families and one-third will experience exclusion because of their gender or ethnicity.

城市兒童貧困現象研究: 兒童權利與基本需要的剝奪 : 以天津市為例.姜妙屹.; Chinese University of Hong Kong Graduate School. Division of Social Work.; Jiang, Miaoyi. (2009)Child poverty is a troubling issue over the world. Many scholars and professionals have devoted themselves to alleviating and eliminating child poverty. However, hundreds of millions of children in the world are still suffering from poverty. In China, poverty is a serious social problem. Chinese government did intervene heavily in poverty alleviation in the last decades. But so far, compared to other social problems, the scholars and policy-makers in China have paid less attention to the issue of child poverty. In light of these developments, this study, based on a children's right perspective, sets out to identify the basic characteristics of urban child poverty as well as the basic needs of poor children. Further, it gauges urban poverty's social, economic and psychological impacts on the children and effects of current social policies. Qualitative methodology, including in-depth interviews and focus group methods, is adopted in this study. Some 19 poor families were interviewed in 2006-2007.
