Abstract
[This paper revolves around the experience of God from the reality of the collectors of recyclable materials, with an expression of life among them recognized the fundamental importance: “Garbage is life.” The reference text is the Song of Hannah (1 Samuel 2:1-10), from the Old Testament. In this passage the poor are the reference for God’s action, once He removes them from the dunghill. The ecological reality is a challenge for all of us in the sense of preserving God’s creation. Nowadays this has been presented as a challenge to our spiritual life as well as pastoral care. Reading this text helps us to understand God’s and men’s action so as to recognize the need for change in dealing with life and the cosmos, the world is ours and for that reason it requires our care. The speech of the garbage collectors and the expression of Hannah help us to realize the importance of our bodies, our lives, the world and the moment we are living. The “Echo” of the Word of God and men’s speech make us question ourselves about our interpersonal and social relations. In this way it is possible to think about the construction of a different way of caring about life and the world]
