Abstract
"This paper focuses on the literary elements used in the composition of the synchronic history of the two separated kingdoms, Israel/Efraim and Judah. The deuteronomist employed sources, documents, reports and styles of speaking in order to compose an account far away from neutrality. Rather, the deuteronomist narrates the history intentionally, and that intentionality is present in the little details. The variety of literary genres, the narrative and theological options and the coherence in the whole work show that 1Kgs 12 – 2Kgs 17 is not only a history of kings, but also and mainly a history of prophets".
