Abstract
"In this article, the Argentine Historian Norman Rubén Amestoy, analyzes what the protestant ascetic consisted of in the Río de la Plata during the last 25 years of the XIX century, the positions the protestants evidenced regarding matters such as gambling, alcohol, smoking, and other practices that were considered as vices. These attitudes represented a moral change within a modern society that, together with the industrialization and the achievement spirit, magnified its development and influence in the emerging society."
