Abstract
"Psalm 8,2.7-9, Matthew 21,14-17 and Isaiah 11,3-6 help the author of this essay to find, in the Bible, a suitable way to define masculinity away from the hegemonic perspective. Building on the two first chapters of Genesis, those three passages help us to move from considering the adult as the paradigm of humanity to considering a child as the true representative of the human being. Thus, with this metaphor, those texts offer new means of dealing with the powerful and the violent. In the second part of the essay, two texts, one in OT and one in NT, are presented as examples of “re-readings” in which two male adults find their salvation and liberation by “becoming children”."
