Abstract
"With a careful and prolix review of perspectives concerning Romans, the author raises a different look on the pauline perspective of gender as something rigid. Reviewing available information on Paul's behaviors, the relations established with other men, several women and some heterosexual couples and linking with his discourses, this single male is located in his context as flexible and subversive in matters of gender, far from rigid ideologies on sex and sexuality with which he is interpreted nowadays. Crossing references from other Pauline texts and being opened for other presupposed ideas in sex and gender about the comprehension and performance of Paul in the treatment of sexual matters and gender, we can find that in Romans, Paul is far away from homophobic and rigid attitudes and rather, we can find Paul doing a type of deconstruction of basic patriarchal concepts of his epoch."
