Abstract
"Reading the corpus paulinum always has two sides. On the one hand, there is the task of describing, both individually and together, the canonical collection of fourteen writings associated with the figure of Paul. On the other hand, there is the social memory these texts enshrine and occasion of the historical person whose vulnerable body once was Paul. In this article, three considerations are deemed crucial for rereading the Deuteropauline writings within the corpus paulinum: i) the exclusion of Acts from the field of interpretation, principally on the basis of the manuscript tradition; ii) a revision of the prevailing image of the apostle Paul as effectively a “strong” man instead of someone socially weak and vulnerable on the basis of the authentic letters; and iii) contemporary critique of the Deuteropauline writings as an extension of the unresolved debate they originally represent."
