The Birth of Jesus

Abstract

Within the scope of the study, the Birthof Jesus Christ was examined and it was evaluated in terms of the Cappadocia Churcheswhere the cribs of Jesus Christ were depicted, the wall murals in some churchesin Anatolia, European samples and metallic and stone-marble works in severalmuseums, similarity of the subject similarity, genre, technique andcomposition. Within the scope of thestudy, the Birth of the Jesus Christ was examined within the light ofapocryphal and kanonical sources by specifying time, space and place, thefigure majority in the compositions and the positions of the figures inside thescene were evaluated chronogically.

Çalışmakapsamında, İsa’nın doğumu, tarihsel süreçteki benzer doğum örnekleri ile ikonografik-üslupaçısından incelenmiş, doğum tasvirinin görüldüğü Kappadokia kiliseleri,Anadolu’daki bazı kiliselerdeki duvar resimleri, Avrupa örnekleri ve çeşitlimüzelerdeki madeni ve taş-mermer eserler, konu benzerliği, üslup, teknik vekompozisyon açısından değerlendirilmiştir.Çalışma kapsamında İsa’nın doğumu, apokrif ve kanonikkaynaklar ışığında zaman, mekan ve yer belirtilerek incelenmiş, kompozisyonlardakifigür çoğunluğu ve figürlerin sahne içindeki konumları kronolojik olarak incelenmiştir.
