Abstract
This is a reconstruction of the Movement of Jesús and of the Christian churches in the city of Antioch in Syria and its environs. We underline the importance of this city, the third after only Rome and Alexandria, where the encounter took place between Semitic and Greek cultures. We distinguish three Christian generations. The first (40-70 C.E.) is reconstructed on the basis of Gaations 2 and Acts 6-15. Here we insist on the conflict at Antioch and its repercussions on the identity of the Church. The second (80-90 C.E.) is the generation marked by the Gospel of Matthew which gathers more than 50 years of the Gailean tradition of the Movement of Jesús and proposes an ecclesiology based on the historical memory of Jesús as an alternative to Rabbinical Judaism post 70 C.E. The third generation (100-130 C.E.) is represented by Ignatius of Antioch and the Didache in which the charismatic and prophetic tradition of the previous generations still survives"
