Abstract
The article starts with the understanding that Paul had, as an apostle, a strong authority in relation to the faithful (v.8). In Philemon he, however, abdicates from this authority and prefers to ask the freedom of Onesimus “in the name of love” (v.8). The article understands that this option of Paul is not a mere tactical measure to condition Philemon to obedience (v.21), but that it has to do with the own nature of love that is generated by faith: the Chistian fraternity is contrary to all relationships that are build upon the superiority or submission among persons"
