Abstract
"Matthew, like Luke, constructs a tale, with mythic characteristics, about the infancy of Jesus, for the purpose of showing the identy and the plenitude of Jesus’ messianism. Christ, the Saviour, is also Emmanuel, God a tiny baby with us. His being a persecuted tiny baby connotes the plenitude of his messianism. This characteristic becomes a pedagogical mirror and model for the community; it is then necesary to “become like little children” as a condition for entering the Kingdom of Heaven (Mt. 18,3). However, this dimension which is proper to the spirituality of the community of Matthew has been absent from the exegesis of this Gospel. In this article we seek precisely to recover this as a golden thread or key to reading which may help us to reveal the latent meanings wich are present in the Gospel, getting deeper into their sociological, spiritual and theological meanings, with the intent of bringing one tiny grain of sand to the task of establishing a children’s hermeneutic of the Bible"
