Abstract
The text of the Second Isaiah must be read with the liberation from exile and the diaspora as keys, and not like a program for the conversion of other nations. With the loss of the cultural identity, the image of the God of tradition also vanishes. Other Gods (this time those of the ruling empire) take his place. It becomes necessary then, for recovering Yahveh and the “historical memory”, to demonstrate that he is capable of saving and, above all, that he wants to liberate his dispersed people. The Deutero-Isaiah’s kerygmatic proposal is that liberation is possible"
