Abstract
The Shulamite, female protagonist of the Song of Songs, bears peace in her very name. She is aproject, a proposal, a prophecy. There are other projects, other proposals for getting peace. The Shulamite offers hers, with bold daring and firm conviction: peace is found in the fields, at the side of one’s Beloved, in the total and passive surrender of love, in the meeting of two bodies which love each other: to come, to enjoy a state of well-being. Orgasm and peace: this is the Shulamite’s affirmation and proposal. Lovers know that it is so. They know that this must be sought, conquered, defended, for there are other proposals for ways of getting peace, which are false"
