Abstract
["The New Rhetoric has revitalized the importance that the Rhetoric had in Greco-Roman times. Developed by Chaïm Perelman and his successors (Meyer, Plantin, Reboul, Grácio, Mosca and others), it has offered, in conjunction with the French Discourse Analysis, a significant support for the examination of the operations of persuasion found in different discursive modalities, taking into account the speaker (ethos), the audience (pathos) and the speech (logos), which are constituent and inseparable elements involved in the interaction process. Based on this theoretical tool, this paper examines the concepts and ideas that enable people to grasp the strategic dimension of the argument and the roles assumed by the subjects in the corpus of Acts 13.14-41, whose translation from Greek into Portuguese was performed using the theoretical framework of Henrique Murachco".]
