Abstract
Palavras-chave: demônio; Satanás; impureza; evangelho de Marcos" ["Demonic beings are referred to in Mark primarily as impure spirits but also as demons. Their prince is called Beelzebul by others and Satan by Jesus. The Holy Spirit needs to be called Holy in order to differentiate it from the other spirits, which was unnecessary in the Old Testament. From an exegetical study of Mark the following conclusions arise: 1) Demons are associated with places. 2) Demons are dangerous and damaging to human beings, whether pagan or Jewish. Their dangerousness is associated with their impurity 3) The enemy of the demons is God and everything that is holy, including the Holy Spirit and Jesus as the Holy One of God. 4) The “prince” of the demons is Satan. This is the term which Mark and Jesus prefer. To call him Beelzebul is to attribute powers to him, and Jesus does not do this.5) The demons are not responsible for all the evils in the world, neither all the illnesses nor every failure to hear the word of God.6)The demons are easily confused with groups of human beings"]
