Abstract
["Prophecy is a phenomenon typical of the Ancient Near East but is not restricted to it. In the Jewish and Christian Scriptures it took an especially peculiar form. The present essay visualizes one of the prophet Nathan’s prophetic actions, in 2 Samuel 12.1-4, showing on the one hand the vigor of his radical opposition to monarchy but indicating at the same time his fragility in the face of a corrupt power".]
