Abstract

AsMedFAR team, we are glad and excited to share the first issue of MedFAR withyou. It has a year since the idea of MedFAR came up. We worked hard withenthusiasm, belief and commitment. The idea was to contribute to preservationof the rich biodiversity and heritage of the Mediterranean andresponsible/sustainable development of capture fisheries and aquaculture in theregion (Including Black Sea) by building a bridge betweenscience/knowledge/Innovation and industry/practice/production. Somehowambitious, there are hundreds of new and well-established academic journals allaround the world in the same field or relevant disciplines. How could MedFARachieve this?Wesincerely believe that with your support and contributions it is possible.MedFAR aims to be a dissemination tool and a network at disposal of all whoare devoted to well-being of Mediterranean biodiversity and sustainable use ofits resources and richness. It is meant to be a knowledge sharing forum notonly for scientists and researchers but also for capture fisheries andaquaculture industries, environmentalists, policy/decision makers and all otherinterested stakeholders. It is envisaged to be a platform extending fromMediterranean to the Black Sea, from Africa to Europe, to Eurasia and theMiddle East. This is the notion and mission of MedFAR.Thiscannot be realized without your interest and support. Give us a hand to goforward and enhance the visibility of MedFAR.
