Abstract
"Moral theology, just like other theological fields, has an important contribution to make to people in general and particularly to the people of God in the dimension of faith and justice. This contribution has to be adequately articulated with many other activities and organizations. In order to do this effciently, a clear understanding of problems is essential, not only as regards problems in general but specially the problems in the context of our continent. In view of the enormity of conflictive issues, we may become discouraged. This is why we also have to be clear about our hope. Consequently, I describe from the start the fundamental issues and, more specifically, economical, political and cultural aspects. I then go on to review the three principal fountains of hope that nourish us: the word of God, the power of the Spirit, and the wisdom of the people. My wish is to contribute, as I express in the conclusion, to a grateful, fortified, and patient current of hope."
