"Del 12 al 14 de mayo se realizó en El Escorial, España, una reunión entre representantes de iglesias de Europa y América Latina, convocada por la Comisión de Episcopados de la Comunidad Europea (COMECE), el Consejo Espiscopal Latinoamericano (CELAM) y la Conferencia Episcopal Española (CEE). Entre los 140 participantes se encontraban obispos de 17 episcopados europeos, los presidentes de las 22 conferencias latinoamericanas y presbíteros y laicos con importantes funciones en sus iglesias, en sus países y en instituciones internacionales. El tema de la reunión fue América Latina y la Unión Europea. Juntos por el bien común universal. Contribución de la Iglesia.
