AbstractArticle deals with the issue of relevance of intercultural education and presents content analysis of Lithuanian literature textbooks for 11-12 forms in the aspect of intercultural education. It shows up that interculturality and tolerance are understood in an abstract, narrow way, mainly in the ethnic, religious aspect, not involving gender, sexual orientation and disability aspects. The authors notice attempts to influence pupils’ interculturality approach. Pupils are not encouraged to understand cultural pluralism, they are just familiarised with it. Critical assessment of the origin of stereotypes about privileges of dominating social groups is also not encouraged.
