Abstract
"The Constitution Dei Verbum, follows the history of the Council Vatican II. Its drafting went all the way through the General Assembly; it was one of the first to be presented and the last to be approved. Four schemes were drafted. The first was rejected by the bishops because it had a heavy scholastic tincture and was quite apologetic and very conceptual. The following amendments refined it gradually till its final form. The Secretariat for the Unity contributed in a significant way to give the text an ecumenical inspiration. The reality of the Revelation was explained following an accurate approach. The relationship between Magisterium and Scripture, between Tradition and Scripture were also brought up clearly and the concept of truth in the Bible got a new light."
