Abstract
"La situación insostenible que habían provocado las luchas de los españoles con los araucanos determinó en 1605 al virrey del Perú, Conde de Monterrey, admitir la doble tesis pacifista del misionero jesuita, padre Luis de Valdivia: la abolición del servicio personal y la limitación de la traicionera guerra al aspecto puramente defensivol • El cumplimiento de 10 concertado motivó violentas quejas que los encomenderos elevaron al Consejo de Indias.
