Until the present day the cult of the said person is not recognized by the Church however the cult is still alive in the folk godliness and reveals the ethnic culture (the ritual traditions and the music). The following questions were raised: how did the said godliness tradition come into existence, what determined the emergence of the cult and where do its origins lie. The study is aimed at, referring to the methodology of the sciences of ethnology and ethnomusicology, examining and revealing the aspects of holiness of Barbora Žagarietė. The study revealed the following aspects: 1. Barbora Žagarietė’s life and the commencement of the fame of her holiness is related with the commencement of the Jesuit activities in Latvia, Samogitia and Žagarė itself and the nurturing of the Catholic culture and the care of education in Semigalia sowed the seeds of believing into the holiness of Barbora Žagarietė among the local youth. 2. The plentiful ritual traditions and a peculiar musical culture was an expression of the folk’s believing in the holiness of Barbora Žagarietė. The scientific analysis of the study has shown that the believing in the holiness of Barbora Žagarietė, spread among the people of Semigalia marks the Northern boundary of the Catholic culture, separating the Northern Protestant and Northeastern Orthodox lands.
