AbstractConditions and factors of informal spiritual education of society have been analyzed in the article. The aim of the research is to reveal relevance of informal spiritual education of the Western society under the conditions of modern social development. The research has revealed that similarity of living conditions of the members of an agricultural society guaranteed formation of a strong social structure based on fostering moral values. Industrial civilization has radically changed spiritual education of people and society: artificial spiritual education dissociated from the rhythm of nature has gradually become prevailing. With the transition to the age of information, decreasing occupations and work intensity and increasing free time did not stimulate society to turn to spirituality because market became predominant and changed social relations. Globalization is the source of strengthening disability of the citizens of society, therefore, despiritualization of social life is becoming more intense. Society in Lithuania is experiencing spiritual crisis determined by transition from totalitarianism to democracy. This transition coincides with the consolidation of commercialized democracy in Western societies. Therefore social disorganization may become a permanent state of the Lithuanian society if their members do not realize the social role of morality, religion and law reinforcing social control of a contemporary society. Western society and the Lithuanian nation need informal spiritual education, and this could be implemented by SPIRITUAL MOVEMENT.
