AbstractVilnius was the biggest municipal city in King of Poland. It was center of economic, scientific, cultural and religious matters. There penetrated different cultural receipts, had influence on daily life as well as family ceremonies. There also lived people of different nations, such as Polish, German, Lithuenian and different religions such as catholics, jewish, protestants and also muslims. On example of Vilnius, I can see, what was family life in this various groups like. However, we have to remember, that family ceremony was connected with religiuos traditions. In my opinion, in this research work, very important is also period. Time when August of III was king of Poland, brought many changes. His father, August of II, was the king, who was leading several wars and was quite clumsy. They both had title Grand Duke of Lithuania, but they didn’t arrive in Vilnius. The king August of III gave Poland political and economical stabilization. The level of cultural development was very high. Poland was country, which had great people (famous in the world) and great buildings, such as palaces and churches. My research work consists of 7 chapters (all book has about 500 pages), which are divided into 2 big parts: first is about the city itself and its citizens, and the second about family ceremonies. In the first part I described the history of Vilnius, from its foundation to XVIII century. Some part of my text I devoted to people who lived in Vilnius. For me, important was facts about: nations and religious groups who lived in Vilnius. I also described the most important streets and buildings, which were part of public spaces family ceremony. The same things I did with private buildings.
