Abstract
The Balkan lands are the first that the Ottoman Empire has conquered before it ruled over a large part of the Anatolian’s territory; Bulgaria and Sofia were the earliest places participating the Ottoman territory. The Ottoman rules began in the Balkans and Sofia as a result of this conquest has lasted over 500 years and during this time, Sofia along with the Balkans has become a city of science and culture. The Turks in the Balkans where they have established the rule that moves parallel to the built up areas, where they have settled as they establish new settlements cities, towns and villages ordered their jollify and economically enriching. They have also contributed to the enrichment of the cities culturally by integrating with the local population of those cities. In this process, Sofia has become the most important scientific and cultural cities of the Balkans. Sofia has been one of the major cities of the region’s central location in the Ottoman era with its foundations, mosques, inns, baths and with its unique market which is an integral part of the Turkısh Islamic cities
Osmanlı Devleti’nin Anadolu topraklarının büyük bir kısmını egemenliğine almadan önce fethettiği toprakların başında Balkan toprakları gelir. Balkan topraklarından da Bulgaristan ve Sofya, Osmanlı topraklarına en erken katılan yerlerdendir. Bu fetihler sonucu başlayan Balkanlar’daki ve Sofya’daki Osmanlı egemenliği 500 yıldan fazla sürmüş ve bu süre zarfında Balkanlar ile birlikte Sofya şehri de bir ilim ve kültür şehri haline gelmiştir. Türkler Balkanlar’da ilerlerken burada kurdukları egemenliğe paralel olarak yeni yerleşim yerleri kurdukları gibi yerleştikleri şehir, kasaba ve köyleri de şenlendirmişler ve ekonomik olarak zenginleştirmişlerdir. Ayrıca yerel halk ile bütünleşerek şehirlerin kültürel anlamda zenginleşmesine de katkı sağlamışlardır. Bu süreçte Sofya, Balkanlar’ın en önemli ilim ve kültür merkezlerinden biri haline gelmiştir. Sofya Osmanlı döneminde vakıfları, camileri, hanları, hamamları ve Türk-İslam şehirlerinin ayrılmaz bir parçası olan kendine özgü çarşıları ile bölgenin merkezi konumundaki önemli şehirlerinden birisi olmuştur
