Abstract
"The article offers an overview on the school of Valentinus, which was a prominent Christian group in the second century CE. It featured a number of teachers still known by name. Valentinian texts also loom large in the Nag Hammadi Library, a collection of early Christian texts found in Egypt 1945. Valentinians are one of the Christian groups defying attempts to draw a clear boundary between “Gnosticism” and Christianity. It is argued in the article that the school of Valentinus had a strong philosophical orientation. This becomes especially clear in the Valentinian myth of Wisdom, in which the therapy of emotions is a crucial concern. Valentinians were genuinely interested in issues related to one’s moral progress. There is also evidence that they used myth politically, that is, to explain the structure of society" ["L’article ofereix una visió general sobre l’escola de Valentí el Gnòstic, que va ser un destacat grup cristià el segle II dC.
