Abstract

"Após definir o que é Psicologia da Religião, o autor assinala que esta disciplina pode ser estudada a partir de várias perspectivas, mas desde uma perspectiva que permita distinguir suas características propriamente psicológicas. A Psicologia Cultural oferece exatamente esta possibilidade. Embora possam ser identificados vários tipos de Psicologia Cultural, o desafio contemporâneo para a Psicologia da Religião é o emprego daquelas aproximações que permitem a conceituação e investigação das relações entre religião como fenômeno cultural e o funcionamento psíquico. Este artigo passa em revista algumas teorias antigas da Psicologia compatíveis com o insight da Psicologia Cultural, para discutir, em seguida, algumas aproximações mais promissoras e comentar outras que estudam a Religião por meio da Psicologia" ["After defining the meaning of the Psychology of Religion, the author affirms that the discipline can be studied from different perspectives, but always from a perspective that permits one to distinguish the psychological characteristics of religion. Cultural Psychology offers exactly such a possibility. Although one can distinguish various types of Cultural Psychology, the contemporary challenge for the Psychology of Religion is the use of approaches which allow the conceptualization and investigation of the relationships between religion as a cultural phenomenon and psychic functions. This article revisits some older theories of Psychology compatible with the insight of Cultural Psychology, and to discuss some promising approaches and comments on others that study Religion through Psychology"]
