Abstract
O artigo trata das nuanças e controvérsias da trajetória comunicativa católica dentro deste quadro" ["The relationship between the Catholic Church and the media in Brazil began with the setting up of its own media vehicles; it faced moments of stagnation and nowadays has reached a stage of heavy investment in media projects that relate to an action on identity affirmation, opposing the intense evangelical competition. Besides developing radio and TV networks, Catholics, primarily those linked to the charismatic movement, have been searching for a closer relationship with larger commercial broadcasting groups. The singer priest Marcelo Rossi is a protagonist in this “church popularizing renewal”, given a scenery that is both religious and mediatic, marked by the strong presence of Bishop Edir Macedo’s Universal Church of the Kingdom of God and its purchase of Record TV Networks. The article deals with the features and the controversy around the Catholic communicational journey"]
