Abstract
Its inspiration and influence is pervading society and culture. Nevertheless, religions provide an interpretation of the world connected with the fundamental sense of human existence, as well. In the present article, I argue that, if theological reflection on the interrelation between nature, human beings and God intends depth, it ought nowadays to be confronted positively with that knowledge. I also argue that scientific knowledge needs to be more open to and assimilate total reality. Hence, it should allow an interaction with other kinds of knowledge, in order to have a more global and symmetric view of the universe and of human beings. Both are intellectual exigencies of our times. In fact, an estrangement of the religions to science, and the excessive reductionism and specialization of the latter, lead to the concealment of the sense of what is human, and devoid rational exploration of knowledge"]
