Abstract
["There are two decades closely accompany the struggles of black Brazilian community in seeking to restore their traditions and the right to full citizenship. The prejudice that surrounds discussions on african-Catholic religious syncretism is one of the flanks of this centuries-old struggle. So in doctoral thesis recently defended 1, intended to demonstrate, in the collation of prominent authors, even Catholicism does not escape this phenomenon. To the point that, in fact, does not exist a non-popular Catholicism, and what we know is inevitably syncretic. Also revisited the issue this way in the scientific world, showing that the word syncretism is now well accepted, since some internal distinctions clarified the term".]
