Abstract

The author presents a typology of unemployment experiences which are explained by the way the young unemployed see work. Unemployment is experienced as a «disease » and a trauma by youth who aspire to integrate themselves into both the world of work integration at work and the society at large, and who perceive work as a social duty and a moral obligation. On the other hand, youth who question work and denounce its constraints transform unemployment into a common event. They experience their unemployment as free time and liberation. moral obligation. L'auteur présente une typologie des vécus du chômage qu'il explique par la représentation que les intéressés se font du travail. Le chômage est vécu comme «maladie » et expérience traumatisante par les jeunes qui aspirent à une insertion professionnelle et à une intégration sociale et qui perçoivent le travail comme une obligation sociale et un devoir moral. Inversement les jeunes qui remettent en cause le travail et dénoncent ses contraintes banalisent le chômage et le vivent comme temps libre et libération.
