Abstract
["This document was prepared under the ECLAC / GTZ Development and Social Equity in Latin America and the Caribbean Project , constituting an input for reflection and discussions conducted the countries participating in the Eighth Regional Conference on Women in Latin America and the Caribbean ( Lima, Peru , 8 to 10 February 2000) . The purpose of the study is to demonstrate the importance of learning about and consider inequities that occur between men and women , if we are to achieve a more equitable American society . This has been selected topics on the economic area more developed by CEPAL, taking stock of the situation of women and men in the nineties from a maximum statistical evidence from Latin America. It also attempts to point out in each subject the novel aspects that deserve the attention of those who propose , define and monitor public policies after the disappearance of gender inequities ".]
